Every base package covers a complete face-up from the initial protective sealant to the final finish, including:

• Sealant layers
• Line work
• Shading and blushing
• Texture (e.g., clear gloss applied to tear ducts and waterline, 3D lip texture)

For example, even if you submit a blindbox request with zero specific elements filled out, your sculpt will still receive a fully finished, highly detailed face-up.

An element is one distinct visual feature or design choice. You can give as much detail as needed to describe that feature, and it will still count as one element.

For example:

a. Freckles.
b. Small, light brown freckles scattered across the nose and upper cheeks.
c. Freckles and red glossy lips

Both of a and b are considered one element, as they describe the same visual feature (freckles), while c is considered two elements (freckles and lips).

A strictly avoid element is one distinct visual feature you do not want to appear in the final design.

For example:

a. Thick eyebrows.
b. No thick eyebrows.
c. Anything masculine.

Here, a is a clear, valid "strictly avoid" element. However, b is ambiguous due to the negative phrasing (please rewrite it as "Thick eyebrows"), and c is too broad (please list the specific physical features you want avoided instead).

Because the blindbox is a surprise tier, your face-up may randomly include premium add-ons (e.g., glitters, foils, tiny pearls or rhinestones) at no additional cost. If you prefer a strictly matte look, please specify that in the customization field when submitting your request.

Highly specific or heavy modifications will never appear randomly in a blindbox face-up. Furthermore, they cannot be requested in the blindbox form. Examples of these include:

• Heavy gore or blood effects
• Scarring, burns, or other trauma effects
• Large surface coloring (e.g., tattoos, birthmarks, or vitiligo patterns)

No WIPs or revisions are included in blindbox commissions. The final reveal is via email notification right before return shipping.

Currently, the add-ons listed above are the only ones available for our blindbox commissions. We are keeping the selection small for our initial opening, but this list will grow once our semi-custom and full-custom commission tiers launch.

Refunds will only be issued under the following specific conditions:

• If the client chooses to cancel their commission before the sculpt has arrived at the studio, or before any painting work has started, a full refund will be issued, minus any non-refundable payment processor transaction fees and shipping costs.
• If BJD Gallery must cancel the commission due to an unforeseen personal emergency, illness, or equipment failure, the client will receive a full refund. The sculpt will be returned to the client at the studio's shipping expense.

You may request to cancel your commission at any time. However, a full refund is conditional. All cancellation requests must be submitted by sending an email directly to [email protected] with the subject line Cancellation Request - REF: #[6-digit reference number]. Messages sent via social media platforms will not be considered official cancellation requests.

BJD Gallery reserves the right to immediately cancel a commission. If work has already begun, payments remain non-refundable, and the client's property will be returned with shipping costs billed entirely to the client. This occurs if:

• The received sculpt is discovered to be a recast.
• The received sculpt is from an excluded company or differs from the sculpt approved in the request form.
• The sculpt arrives with an old face-up, large areas of sealant residue, or extensive dirt.
• The sculpt arrives with severe damage, heavy modifications, or inherent resin flaws that the studio cannot safely repair or work around to properly execute a face-up.

When you mail your doll head to France, it must be clearly declared on the CN22/CN23 customs form as an item being sent for repair, alteration, or customization (often referred to under European customs as inward processing). It is crucial that the package is not marked as a standard commercial sale, to avoid being double-taxed on a sculpt you already own.

Despite proper labeling, international customs authorities have absolute discretion over incoming and outgoing mail.

• Inbound Fees: If French customs intercepts the package and levies import VAT or processing fees before it can be delivered to the studio, the client is entirely responsible for covering these costs.
• Outbound Fees: When the sculpt is returned to you, your home country may charge import taxes. Any duties, taxes, or clearance fees required to receive the package are the sole responsibility of the client.

Between premium insured shipping and potential import taxes, commissioning an overseas artist can easily double the total cost of your face-up. Furthermore, flying a resin head across the globe and back carries a significant carbon footprint and increases the inherent risk of postal loss.

Before applying, BJD Gallery highly recommends checking out artists in your local BJD community. Supporting local artists reduces environmental impact, minimizes transit anxiety, and saves you a substantial amount on shipping and customs fees—funds that are much better spent on new dolls, clothes, or accessories for your collection!

In the event of a lost or damaged package during outbound shipping, BJD Gallery will assume the responsibility of initiating and managing the formal compensation claim with La Poste on your behalf as the insured party. BJD Gallery will provide you with updates on the claim's progress and will transfer any recovered insurance funds to you immediately upon receiving the final official payout from the carrier.

• Required Cooperation: To ensure the claim is successful, you may be required to provide additional documentation during the investigation. This can include a signed formal declaration of non-receipt, or, in the case of damage, clear photographs of the damaged item and all exterior packaging before it is discarded.
• Proof of Value Requirement: Please be aware that La Poste strictly requires an original financial receipt to reimburse the value of the sculpt. If you did not provide a receipt and cannot produce one during an investigation, the carrier will only reimburse the value of the commission work. BJD Gallery cannot be held financially responsible for the replacement cost of the blank head if the carrier denies the sculpt's value due to missing proof of purchase.
• Estimated Claim Timeline: Postal investigations, particularly for international shipments, require coordination between La Poste and your local national postal service. As a result, the official investigation and compensation process typically takes between 30 to 90 days.

If you wish to decline insurance coverage for your return shipment, please explicitly request this by emailing [email protected] with the subject line Decline Insurance Coverage - REF: #[6-digit reference number] before receiving your final invoice. By formally opting out of full return shipping insurance, you expressly agree to the following terms:

• Assumption of Risk: You assume 100% of the financial risk for the package during its return transit.
• Waiver of Liability: BJD Gallery is entirely released from any financial, legal, or material responsibility if the package is lost, stolen, delayed, or damaged by the postal service, couriers, or customs authorities.
• No Refunds or Replacements: Under no circumstances will the studio refund the face-up commission fee, nor will the studio provide financial compensation for the replacement value of the blank sculpt.
• Carrier Minimum Liability: You acknowledge that declining premium insurance means the package is covered only by the carrier's default minimum liability (legally calculated by weight and drastically lower than the replacement value of a BJD head). The only obligation of BJD Gallery will be to file a standard minimum claim on your behalf, and your compensation will be strictly limited to whatever fraction the carrier successfully pays out.
• Chargeback Waiver: You agree that declining insurance waives your right to initiate a payment dispute, credit card chargeback, or bank reversal against BJD Gallery for non-delivery or damage caused by the postal service.

While we take every possible precaution to keep the workspace clean and minimize airborne particles, the studio is not a dust-free environment. As a result, minor impurities (such as microscopic dust specks) may occasionally settle into the sealant. We will reduce these to the absolute minimum, but they are not considered defects.

All face-ups are painted entirely by hand. While every effort is made to achieve visual balance, absolute symmetry cannot be achieved by human hands. Additionally, doll sculpts themselves often have natural structural asymmetries. Minor differences between the left and right sides, such as subtle variations in eyebrow arch or eyeliner thickness, are not considered flaws.

Because the art style of BJD Gallery emphasizes realistic skin texture, the face-up process naturally deepens the overall tone of the resin. As a result, the finished head may appear darker or richer than the body. This slight color mismatch is a normal characteristic of heavily textured aesthetics and is not considered a flaw.

Acceptable proof includes clear photos of one or more of the following:

• Official headplate or company engraving
• Original Certificate of Authenticity (CoA)
• Official purchase receipt or invoice from the company website or an authorized dealer

Important notes when submitting proof of authenticity:

• Please blur or crop out sensitive personal information (e.g., billing address, payment details) from purchase records submitted as proof of authenticity.
• Private second-hand transaction screenshots or marketplace chat logs alone are not accepted as valid proof of authenticity.
